Iona College is a boarding and day school for girls from years 7-13 with a vision for education that builds on tradition to equip students with the confidence and skills needed for a challenging future; and a purpose to encourage students to embrace their education wholeheartedly.

Iona College recognises the important role interconnectivity and collaborative learning play in the future of education. They were seeking a platform that would allow students to access resources, build portfolios and communicate with teachers; as well as provide parents with visibility of their daughter’s class work and assessments.

Iona was won over by Schoology’s ease of use, particularly for staff to add and share resources; and an interface that was familiar to students.

The Schoology team trained a lead team to become experts at using the system, and they helped train other staff and demonstrate Schoology’s potential in just four short meetings. Jay Jones, Director of Systems and Qualifications at Iona, says “Staff were soon adding resources and having students access them, posting assignments and assessments, and seeing the value in other Schoology features like tools for discussion and gradebooks”.

Teachers at Iona now take advantage of full suite of features Schoology offers, setting work for students when absent, storing resources to access in future classes, linking to external videos and resources, sending targeted group messages, and collaborating with other teachers.

Parents are better able to support their daughters by using Schoology to access course materials, assessments, and teacher feedback.
